BioHere comes another turtle with a mixed background~
It all began back in the day when four little turtles, purchased as pets by a boy, accidentally fell down into the sewer system of New York City. You never know what might be lurking down there and these little fellas just so happened to land on a mysterious goo that turned out to be a powerful mutagen; but they were not the only ones, a rat shared the same fate.
Due to this chemical the turtles and the rat mutated into humanoid beings, anthropomorphic creatures with a mind of their own.
The rat, named Splinter, took upon the job of looking after the adolescent-minded turtles, training them in the arts of ninjutsu which he had learned from watching the man who was once his master and a high ranking member of the Foot Clan (which will come into play later): Hamato Yoshi.
Down in the sewers, the fours turtles and Splinter became a kind of family, with the rat as a parental figure which they all respected. The turtles were like brothers. Though Raphael doesn't get along specially well with any of them he has no problems with Donatello, occasionally he'll discuss with Michelangelo but it's usually nothing too serious, but when it comes to Leonardo it's a whole different story.. He resents Leo for being "the favorite one", "the fearless leader", and Raph's disregard for rules and authority in general doesn't help at all in their relationship
Back to some more story~
They rescued reporter April O'Neil while she was being chased by members of the Foot Clan since her researches for stories were getting the way of the clan, leaving a lasting impression on her, I mean.. Come on! Four humanoid turtles kicking asses alongside a rat? But anyway, with this the turtles also became involved and thus, as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the four of them fought against the Foot Clan (now under the lead of Oroku Saki aka "The Shredder", former pupil of Hamato Yoshi).
During this time they came to meet another human: Casey Jones, in whom, despite initial disputes, Raphael came to find a good friend.
After many battles against crime and the Foot Clan, The Shredder was at last defeated, but after this the team and family began to fall apart. Leonardo was sent off to South America by Splinter to train his leadership skills while the rest of the turtles remained in New York. Raphael found it almost pitiful that his brothers were working in such things as tech support and children parties when they used to be the ones that fought crime in town. Never one to sit back and watch, Raph started secretly going out as "the Nightwatcher", a masked vigilante. Under this cover Raphael found an outlet for his violent nature and pent up anger, only returning to the lair during the day to sleep.
When Leonardo does at last come back Raphael gives him the cold shoulder, rejecting his plans of leading the team once more and pretty much telling him to fuck off, to put it bluntly :D They end up having quite a fight with Raphael still as the Nightwatcher, but Leo kicks his ass and finds out that it is Raph, and so they fight all over again~ With his sai he breaks Leo's ninjaken and attacks him quite violently, but family will always be family and Raph simply can't hurt his brother. He flees the scene and Leo, left without any weapons, is captured by the bad guys. Like the good little brother that he is Raph attempts to rescue him, but it's too late for him to do it on his own, so he returns to the lair, blaming himself so badly for it. After some words of encouragement from Splinter the whole gang heads out to rescue Leo and save New York City yet again.
All's good in the end and the turtles are back in town, kicking asses as a team. ;D
Raphael is the most short-tempered out the four, he'll burst in anger quickly when bothered and he's not very social either, usually taking on a sort of "lone wolf" attitude which tends to be problematic when they're supposed to be doing team work. He's rash and tends to come off as rude, but on the inside he actually cares for those close to him, even if he rarely shows it openly. He has a cynical sense of humor, often considered a pessimist (he says he's just a realist), but he does enjoy a joke when in a good mood.
Raph has matured a lot since the beginning, from being a stereotypically angsty teenager who thought he carried the whole world's problems on his back to more of a brooding anti-hero; he's still a teenager though, so he does still often have his immature moments.
